November 2015 - December 2015

jDM 1 introduced macOS users to a new era of fast, reliable, and intuitive download management. The 1.x series laid the foundation for everything that followed — featuring multi-protocols support, browser integration, and flexible management options for simultaneous transfers. With version 1.1, jDM added notification support, improved search and filtering, and expanded localization into multiple languages, setting the stage for years of powerful and user-friendly updates to come.

jDM 1.1

Released on 17 December 2015

Introduced download filtering options, improved search, and notifications for completed or failed downloads — making jDM more organized and informative for macOS users. This update also marked jDM’s global debut — introducing full localization in German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Traditional Chinese, making the download manager more accessible to users worldwide.

Main Window

  • Added a segment control button in the toolbar for quick filtering of downloads.
  • New filtering options include:
    • All Downloads — view every download in one list.
    • Completed Downloads — show only successfully finished items.
    • Active Downloads — view files currently being downloaded.
    • Paused Downloads — display items paused, stopped, or with errors.
  • Each filter option is visually represented by a colored circle icon for easy recognition.
  • Improved search functionality in the toolbar to deliver faster, more accurate results while typing.

Preferences

  • Introduced a new preference option: “Notify when download completes.”
  • When enabled, jDM automatically displays a system notification upon successful completion or if an error occurs during the download process.

Application

  • General bug fixes and stability improvements for smoother performance.
  • Enhanced responsiveness when managing or filtering large download lists.
  • Added localization support for multiple languages — jDM is now available in German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Traditional Chinese, making it more accessible to users worldwide.

jDM 1.0

Released on 6 November 2015

The first release of jDM introduced a fast, reliable, and intuitive download manager built for macOS. Featuring support for HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP protocols, browser integration, and automatic download management, jDM 1.0 laid the groundwork for a modern, efficient downloading experience with smart resume, queuing, and customizable preferences.

Downloader

  • Introduced a powerful and reliable multi-protocol download engine supporting HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP connections.
  • Enabled automatic resume of interrupted or broken downloads caused by network issues or system restarts.
  • Implemented automatic retry for timed-out downloads to maintain stability during long sessions.
  • Supported file authorization, redirects, and large file transfers with accurate progress tracking.

Main Window

  • Clean, simple, and responsive interface showing all active, paused, and completed downloads.
  • Directly open downloaded files with the default application or reveal them in Finder.
  • Added Pause, Resume, Re-download, Rename, Copy Address, and Edit URL actions for better control.
  • Introduced customizable columns — File Name, Size, Status, Time Left, Transfer Rate, Downloaded, Progress, Last Try Date, and Resumable.
  • Provided real-time search capabilities for large download lists.

Preferences

  • Option to choose a default download directory for all files.
  • Set maximum simultaneous downloads (1–8); additional downloads automatically queue until a slot is free.
  • Configurable auto-removal of completed downloads — After One Day, On Quit, Immediately, or Manually.
  • Option to resume existing files when adding duplicate links.
  • Added controls for deleting unfinished files when removing downloads.
  • Provided authentication support — save username and password for protected downloads.
  • Full control over visible columns and UI presentation from Preferences.

Browser Extensions

  • Introduced browser integration with Safari, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox.
  • Right-click on any link in your browser and choose “Download with jDM” to send it directly to the app.
