This Privacy Policy explains how Sientosh (“Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with our macOS application jEditor (the “Product”). By using jEditor, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please discontinue using jEditor. For any questions or concerns, contact us at privacy@sientosh.com.
1. Definitions
- “Product” refers to the jEditor macOS application developed by Sientosh.
- “Personal Data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.
- “You” means the individual using jEditor or any legal entity on whose behalf such individual is using the Product.
2. Information We Collect
jEditor does not collect, transmit, or store personal data on our servers. All data you provide remains strictly on your device. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Git account credentials (usernames, tokens, passwords, SSH keys)
- Repository configurations
- Project files and editing data
No information entered into jEditor is sent to Sientosh or to any third-party servers by default.
3. Use of Information
The information stored locally in jEditor is used solely to enable the application’s intended functionality, including:
- Authentication with Git servers using credentials you provide
- Managing and editing local repositories
- Storing user preferences and configuration settings
4. Storage and Security of Data
Sensitive information such as Git credentials and SSH keys is stored securely on your device using system-provided secure storage mechanisms (such as macOS Keychain). Other configuration and project-related data may be stored in application-specific files on your device. All data remains under your control, and we take reasonable steps to ensure it is safeguarded through reliance on system-level security features.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or share any personal or project-related data. Data remains on your device and is only transmitted to the servers you configure (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or private Git servers) as part of normal Git operations initiated by you.
6. Third-Party Services
jEditor does not integrate with or transmit data to analytics, advertising, or monitoring services. Any connection to third-party services occurs only when you configure remote Git repositories, and such communication is limited to the specific Git host you select.
7. Data Retention
We do not retain any personal data. All data is stored locally on your device and managed by you. If you uninstall jEditor, your locally stored data (credentials, repositories, preferences) is removed unless you choose to back it up separately.
8. Security
We rely on industry-standard security measures, including macOS Keychain and secure storage APIs, to protect sensitive data. However, no system is completely secure. You are responsible for safeguarding access to your device and keeping your credentials confidential.
9. International Use
jEditor is intended for global use. Please note that your use of the Product may involve transmitting data (e.g., to Git servers) outside your country of residence. You are responsible for ensuring that such use complies with applicable local laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.
10. Legal Compliance
You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of jEditor complies with all applicable laws, including but not limited to data protection, copyright, and export control laws. Sientosh disclaims liability for any misuse of the Product in violation of applicable law.
11. No Warranty and Limitation of Liability
jEditor is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sientosh disclaims all liability for damages arising from the use or misuse of jEditor, including but not limited to loss of data, unauthorized access, or third-party service issues.
12. Children’s Privacy
jEditor is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information within jEditor, please contact us so we may take appropriate action.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of jEditor after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
